Feedlogic Systems Inc Animal Nutrition Solutions

Feedlogic Products

Feedlogic is a pioneer of dynamic nutrition management systems for hog production. Its technology combines the power of instant access to on-farm business intelligence with the flexibility to make rapid changes to animal diets. Research has shown that feed conversion rates vary from farm to farm, even when diets and genetics are identical. Yet most current hog feed systems are set up to feed diets based on information gathered from other sources. The diets must be a compromise because they are based on the results of feed trials conducted at other locations which may have different conditions. Producers also will not know how their animals performed on a particular diet until after they have been shipped - when it is too late to make any adjustments.

Feedlogic is the first to offer a system which provides instant feedback on performance based on conditions present in a specific barn and allows diets to be adjusted before hogs are shipped. This combination of instant data feedback and instant diet adjustment provides producers the ultimate tool in feeding best-cost diets.

The Feedlogic hog nutritional management system consists of three components:

Hardware

A single Feedlogic feed delivery system can feed up to 2,000 hogs. Each system consists of the following components:
  • A rail fixed to the ceiling of the barn.
  • A self-propelled battery-powered delivery unit which rides on the rail.

  • Ceiling-mounted sensors to assist with positioning of unit over each feeder.
  • A loading station on one section of the rail where the unit can be reloaded with feed.
  • A battery charging system integrated into the loading station.

Communications

To provide remote monitoring and control, Feedlogic's feed delivery system comes with a communication system. This includes:
  • A wireless access point on the delivery unit which connects to an in-barn wireless network (802.11b).

  • A Local Area Network (LAN) which connects an off-board computer in the barn or in an office near the barn to the wireless network.
  • A Wide Area Network (WAN) which connects the on-site computer to off-site computers.

Software

The Feedlogic system includes two software modules:
  • Control Module - used for live monitoring and management of the system. Includes "virtual barn" views customized to specific barn layouts and numerous tools to manage time of feeding, frequency of feeding, speed of feeding, and types of diets fed.

  • Data Module - used to create reports on feeding activities and performance. Data can be extracted by pen/feeder and by specified time periods.
